Naveen Jain is the founder of online info-commerce company Intelius. He is noted for his expertise in the information business as well as his ardor for philanthropy and the community. In 2000, Forbes Magazine ranked Naveen Jain 121st on the list of “400 Richest Americans,” with a net worth valued at $2.2 million. Naveen Jain has also received a handful of awards and honors such as the Albert Einstein Technolgy Medal for pioneers in technology; Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year; Information Week’s “Six People Who Will Change the Internet;” and the “Top 20 Entrepreneurs” by the Red Herring. Early Life and Education Naveen Jain was born on September 6, 1959 in India. He finished his degree in engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee and then attended XLRI Jamshedpur for his postgraduate course in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations. Career In 1979, Naveen Jain immigrated to the United States to explore the American high-technology market. In 1989, he joined the multinational computer technology corporation Microsoft and held the position of group manager at MSN, Internet services. In 1996, he left his executive job at Microsoft to form InfoSpace. InfoSpace is a leading provider and developer of metasearch products, delivering the most relevant results on the Web to end-users. Naveen Jain served as CEO of InfoSpace from 1996 to 2000 and then again from 2001 to 2002. He also served as the firm’s chief strategy officer from 2000 to 2001. In 2003, he founded Intelius. He recognized the need for consumers and businesses to take hold of information that enables them to reconnect with other people, protect their families, and help them make the right choices. Today, Intellius has become one of the top 100 most trafficked sites on the Internet, as reported by comScore/Media Metrix. Philanthropy Naveen Jain is a distinguished philanthropist who has contributed to several nonprofit organizations including Hopelink and Tree House.
