Your Dope Sheet Touching on Digital Camera Special Offers

Sunday, January 31st, 2010

The endurance of repaired systems has made great strides over recent years, so you can consider them a viable — not to mention low cost– selection. Even if you want the more recent items, we can recommend a great many ways to cut expenditure. So let us tell you things you should keep in mind when searching for laptop offers, mp3 player deals, and many other excellent deals on electronics.

Going with overhauled electronics like a Zwee is a great way to save a significant quantity of money. You won’t sacrifice reliability, either. If you buy through a respectable retailer, there’s a chance to secure warranties, which dramatically reduces the risk. When opening negotiations, look for merchants which can supply discount game console offers, sim free cell phone deals, cheap ebook readers, laptop offers, et cetera. Usually these retailers boast a notably broader assortment than retailers of brand new equipment.

Take a note of the time of year — when you are on the calendar can massively affect what things cost. One of the obvious periods where electronic gadgets are available for low prices is, clearly, Christmas. Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, usually sees a massive promotion for new products with amazing bargains.

Technology evolves, and even if something which does what you want is available already that’s a good thing. Price cuts on existing models are a natural result, which is wonderful for shoppers. No matter what you’re hot for — a Zwee, discount game console offers, or cheap ebook readers — these offer a golden opportunity! Scammers are common on certain online outlets for their schemes, you could find your money stolen. For this reason the trustworthiness of your merchant site is significant. Pinpointing the frauds is mostly straightforward once you have a good idea of the telltale signals to look for. Look into the way they accept payments. Watch out for anyone who only accepts wire transfers. Difficult to trace, simple to accomplish — it’s no surprise the fakes like it. Make sure you look at the security seals — they should actually link to a legitimate verification site. Electronic goods can usually be acquired cheaply. Don’t forget, though, that, there are quite a few other things to be done than simply go for the most obvious special deal at hand to reduce costs if you take care e.g. when hunting a Zwee or digital camera special offers.

Advantages of Using Hosted Exchange 2010

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

As we enter a new year, some people are beginning to make changes as to how their personal e-mail is handled. Many went from using their own Exchange server to going with Intermedia’s Exchange 2010 hosting. Intermedia is the largest provider of Microsoft Exchange hosting in the world and the company is also one of the first few providers to offer this service back in November.
As a lot of people are probably aware, Exchange 2010 is the newest release of the flagship messaging platform of Microsoft. It is, however, unknown to many that the software provider designed it first for use in hosted environments before it worked on its current traditional server version. The development path that its team took is significantly different from its beginnings.
Here are a few advantages to switching to hosted Exchange 2010 for SMBs.
First of all, maintenance is not optional. Managed hosting services are currently increasing in reliability so it just doesn’t make sense anymore to run a personal e-mail server, particularly given the cheaper cost of internet connectivity these days. The cost of hardware, software licenses, maintenance and upgrades can add up quickly. Hosted solutions can be significantly more cost effective for SMBs.
Another benefit to hosted Exchange 2010 is it supports mobile and web access. Intermedia also supports Exchange ActiveSync and Blackberry. You can activate your BlackBerry with the new account without having to install BES or perform complicated configuration.
Access to new technologies is the last of a list of advantages to using this e-mail solution. Hosted e-mail allows clients to take advantage of new features in Exchange 2010 without investing on new hardware or paying for a new license.

Cisco Certification: Five Things To Do DURING Your CCNA Exam

Wednesday, January 6th, 2010

There are plenty of articles out there about how to prepare for the CCNA exam. However, there are also things you can do to increase your chances of success on exam day during the most important part of the entire process — the time that you’re actually taking the test.

I’ve taken many a certification exam over the years, and helped many others prep for theirs. Here are the five things you must do on exam day to maximize your efforts.

1. Show up on time. Yeah, I know everyone says that. The testing center wants you there 30 minutes early. So why do so many candidates show up late, or in a rush? If you have a morning exam appointment, take the traffic into account. If it’s a part of town you don’t normally drive in during rush hour, you might be surprised at how much traffic you have to go through. Plan ahead.

2. Use paper, not the pad. Some testing centers have gotten into the habit of handing exam candidates a board that allegedly wipes clean, along with a marker that may or not be fine-pointed. You do NOT want to be writing out charts for binary math questions, or coming up with quick network diagrams, with a dull magic marker. It’s also my experience that these boards do not wipe clean well at all, but they smear quite badly.

Ask the testing center employee to give you paper and a pen instead. I haven’t had one refuse me yet. Remember, you’re the customer. It’s your $100 – $300, depending on the exam.

3. Use the headphones. Most candidates in the room with you understand that they should be quiet. Sadly, not all of them do. Smacking gum, mumbling to themselves (loud enough for you to hear, though), and other little noises can really get on your nerves in what is already a pressure situation. In one particular testing center I use, the door to the testing room has one setting: “Slam”.

Luckily, that center also has a headset hanging at every testing station. Call ahead to see if yours does. Some centers have them but don’t leave them at the testing stations. Wearing headphones during the exam is a great way to increase your powers of concentration. They allow you to block out all noise and annoyances, and do what you came to do — pass the exam.

4. Prepare for the “WHAT??” question. No matter how well-prepared you are, there’s going to be one question on any Cisco exam that just stuns you. It might be off-topic, in your opinion; it may be a question that would take 20 of your remaining 25 questions to answer; it might be a question that you don’t even know how to begin answering. I have talked with CCNA candidates who got to such a question and were obviously so thrown off that they didn’t do well on any of the remaining questions, either.

There is only one thing to do in this situation: shrug it off. Compare yourself to a major-league pitcher. If he gives up a home run, he can’t dwell on it; he’s got to face another batter. Cornerbacks in football face the same problem; if they give up a long TD pass, they can’t spend the next 20 minutes thinking about it. They have to shrug it off and be ready for the next play.

Don’t worry about getting a perfect score on the exam. Your concern is passing. If you get a question that seems ridiculous, unsolvable, or out of place, forget about it. It’s done. Move on to the next question and nail it.

5. Finish with a flourish. Ten questions from the end of your exam, take a 15-to-30 second break. You can’t walk around the testing room, but you can stand and stretch. By this point in the exam, candidates tend to be a little mentally tired. Maybe you’re still thinking about the “WHAT??” question. Don’t worry about the questions you’ve already answered — they’re done. Take a deep breath, remember why you’re there — to pass this exam — and sit back down and nail the last ten questions to the wall.

Before you know it, your passing score appears on the screen!

Cisco CCNA Certification: Five Key Combinations You Should Know

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

When you start studying for your CCNA and CCNP exams, many books will present you with a huge list of keystroke shortcuts for use on Cisco routers. While the 640-801, 811, and 821 exams may ask you about one or two of these, you really have to get hands-on experience with these commands to master them. Even better, there are some key combinations that Cisco routers mention, but then don’t tell you what they are! Let’s take a look at a few of the more helpful key combinations, and conclude with the “secret” way to stop a ping or traceroute.

The up arrow on your keyboard is great for repeating the last command you typed. Let’s say you mis-enter an access-list. Instead of typing it from the beginning, just hit your up arrow to repeat it, then fix the problem.

CTRL-A takes the cursor to the beginning of a typed line. If you’ve written an extended ACL, you know that can be a very long command, and one you probably don’t want to retype. If you get a carat indicating there is a problem with the line, use your up arrow to repeat the command. If you see the error is near the beginning, use CTRL-A to move the cursor immediately to the beginning of the line. CTRL-E takes the cursor to the end of a typed line.

To move the cursor through a typed line without erasing characters, you’ve got a couple of options. I personally like to use the left and right arrows, but you can also use CTRL-B to move back and CTRL-F to move forward.

Finally, there’s the combination that Cisco mentions to you when you run ping or traceroute, but they don’t tell you what it is! If you send an extended ping or a traceroute, you could be looking at asterisks for a long time if you don’t know this one. In the following example, a traceroute is obviously failing:

R2#traceroute 10.1.1.1

Type escape sequence to abort.

Tracing the route to 10.1.1.1

1 * * *

2 *

The problem is that you’re going to get 30 rows of those asterisks, which is frustrating and time-consuming at the same time. Note the router console message “Type escape sequence to abort”. That’s helpful – but what is it?

Here it is: Just type CTRL-SHIFT-6 twice, once right after the other. You won’t see anything on the router console, but the traceroute will terminate.

R2#traceroute 10.1.1.1

Type escape sequence to abort.

Tracing the route to 10.1.1.1

1 * * *

2 * * *

3

R2#
The traceroute was successfully terminated. This combination works for pings as well, both extended and regular. Of all the keystrokes you can learn, this one is the most valuable!

Time to Get Hired in 2010

Friday, December 4th, 2009

A modern job hunting campaign is by nature very complex. While the Web has offered a variety of new job sites, networking sites, etc., it also creates multiplied competition for hot jobs and potential hurdles for job seekers.

Job searches need to be thought of as a highly personal, highly targeted marketing and selling process where you are the product. Your resume is an ad. Your extended network is your lead generating machine.

So where does the Internet fit in? At AA-Careers, we recently listed a job on Craigslist and got over 600 resumes in a few days. For just one opening. That’s unreal competition.

Had the right job seeker contacted us ahead of our posting that job, they could have secured the job prior to getting all that competition. How? By knowing a person at our organization who became aware of the job prior to posting. Everyone was aware of the job for at least a week before it was posted. Who in your extended network might know of a job that’s coming on the market soon?

So the good news is that job sites give you a sense of who is hiring, and for what kinds of careers. But once those jobs are posted, the rivalry is fierce. You can still compete, if you have a well honed resume, designed to appeal directly and clearly to the recruiter. And if you have practiced interviewing – so you don’t stumble at a critical point.

Another issues to be aware of is how easily you can be looked up on the internet. As we Googled several candidates, we ran into some pictures and comments that were in questionable taste. Nothing illegal, but enough to sway our thinking about who to hire.

AA-Careers provides a comprehensive set of services for Bay Area job seekers, providing our clients a personal career consultant, a managed job hunting campaign, modern tools like a personal website, video, highly targeted resume, and much more. Let us know if we can help you.

Be careful out there, and good hunting!

Work-At-Home Likely to Be Affected during Pandemic Due to Slow Broadband Speeds

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

Though it may sound bizarre, a very likely fallout of the approaching pandemic would be a slowdown in broadband speeds across the UK.

This was suggested by the analysts Gartner and the Centre for Disease Control. They were of the view that network providers will find it difficult to manage the increased demand in bandwidth caused by the pandemic. Approximately two in every five workers will face difficulty in fulfilling their positions for an extended period. Thus, although work will continue from homes, it will be an arduous task for the local network to meet the high bandwidth demand.

In normal times, traffic for commercial internet usage due to work-at-home is more during the daytime while consumer traffic is less. However, during a pandemic, consumer traffic during daytime will increase because many children will stay at home, thus causing the bandwidth problem.

Research vice president at Gartner, Roberta Witty, commented that organisations are required to include planning regarding the impact of pandemic on work-at-home during negotiations with the service providers. They need to chalk out strategies to handle such a situation. These may include deciding in advance which business operations would require heavy bandwidth utilisation, or planning a break-up of work hours so that the possibility of getting the required bandwidth may increase.

Gartner has recommended the usage of 3G (see dongle broadband), satellite connections and WiMAX to help cope with the increased bandwidth demand. Employers are distributing special software to deal with bandwidth and latency issues.

UK Lacks Infrastructure to Support Future Broadband Applications

Monday, October 26th, 2009

Countries such as Romania are better prepared for future broadband applications than the UK, revealed a study of broadband capabilities around the world.

Technology provider Cisco Systemby Oxford University’s Said Business School and Spain’s University of Ovideo’s Department of Applied Economics jointly conducted this unique study, and they ranked the UK in the 25th position out of 66 countries that are well prepared for the future of broadband.

The countries were categorised into four broad categories ‘Ready for tomorrow’, ‘Comfortable for today’, ‘Meeting needs for today’ and ‘Below needs for today’. The UK was somewhat alarmingly fitted in the ‘Meeting needs for today’ category.

Average download and upload speeds coupled with broadband penetration information for each country were the determinants of these rankings. A country with majority population offline or slow connection was rated lower as compared to a country with fast and widespread broadband connection like Japan.

The research also considered the preparedness of broadband infrastructure to meet the future needs of internet users such as video and TV streaming. It was found in the study that only nine countries were ready in terms of better infrastructure. South Korea, aiming 1Gb broadband by 2012, is rated higher as compared to the UK aiming for 2 Mb by the same year.

If compared to the results of the same study last year, one can say that there has been a marked improvement, with many more countries ‘Ready for the future’ this year. On a lighter note, the internet of today matters the most, as Cisco rightly points out.

Broadband Genie’s comparative table of UK broadband providers includes an analysis of the products and services even from the likes of lesser-known providers such as Post Office broadband and all the other top internet service providers. So if you need to check out the latest on broadband UK take a look at their website.

What Kind of Equipment Do Laser Marking Services Use

Monday, October 12th, 2009

This depends on the type of marking that you want to do, and what level of production you wish to achieve combined with the definition necessary. You probably already have an idea of what you want to do, here are a few methods of producing some of the more in demand items.

Hand held laser engraving services are affordable for the average small business and easily found on the internet. The purpose of this type of engraving is to permanently mark an object that could not normally be put into another type of machine. Flat panels, auto parts, and large pieces of glass can be etched with this type of machine. Anything that is larger than the ordinary machine or desktop model will accommodate. Military uses are more common for this type.

Laser marking in glass or stone. To do this you are going to need a lot more room, and money. These systems require that you mount the material into a workspace that the laser moves around to etch the glass or stone, so the machines are much bigger. Applications of the glass are anything from decorative art to a glass door or mirror to granite artwork.

Three dimensional sub-surface. This is the most popular in the community. These create a 3d image into a “crystal” or a chunk of optically perfect material. The machine required to do this is very cost prohibitive, but look at the output. This one uses a lot of space also. Apps are limited to optically pure materials, but 2 1/2 and 3D can be achieved with most machines.

Everything You Must Know Concerning Domain Registration and Web Site Hosting

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

Choosing the most appropriate domain name and picking out the best suited registration are the first matters to consider when establishing a Web site. Nonetheless it can really be an unsettling decision making process. But let’s face it: the easiest way to make sure that all your requirements are fulfilled is to spend a few hours on some painstaking basic research.

When you are studying domain hosting reviews, how can you find out what precisely it is you are actually looking for? Before you make any decisions you must determine the features that are crucial to your business model. A popular choice is to go with the same organization to host your Web site and register your domain name. Support is something which may have effects even long after registration. Never depend upon a review published in a provider’s advertising. It is vital to obtain an impartial opinion before you make a decision. Find the time to study different domain hosting review sites bearing in mind what all the customers have to say. Do you see some of the complaints repeated more than once? Can you see the company’s strengths from the text? Do positive reviews outbalance the bad reviews? Of course, you’ll see positive and negative reviews. Keep an open mind and study all the info you can. No doubt, pricing should be looked at, but make sure you have all you might need in your deal. To help you with a choice here are various questions you should think about.

Does the company you are thinking of extend round the clock customer support with a toll-free number, can you discover any evidence that they answer speedily to any complaints or questions? Are there any restrictions on bandwidth? Some companies offer limitless domain hosting and bandwidth as standard, along with extras such as computer software to help in running your Web site, vouchers good for Google Adwords, even rebates on extra domain names. Do they offer an easy way to pay? Are payments automatic, and are any rebates offered for payment in full? What will they do if the server goes offline? The answers to these and related questions are critical for any Web site. In the end this is up to you, but before you settle for any company, be sure you have a full grasp of all the options. Perusing the applicable reviews will give you the opportunity of saving time and money further down the line.

Technology and Communication World Awaits Wireless Charging

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

True to its name, mobile broadband will actually become a wireless technology in the coming years.

When a buyer is on the lookout for a new laptop or a Netbook (click here for free netbook info), the first consideration is the battery life of the system. If the user requires a gadget that can allow him to do all his computing work as well as give him access to the internet, then it becomes a necessity for him to look for a gadget that doesn’t have to be recharged from a fixed power source from time to time.

But nowadays, manufacturers are coming up with new machines that can go on for ten to twelve hours without having to recharge them. However, the life of the battery varies depending upon the usage.

But it would be a further blessing if there could be a way to charge batteries without wires. The idea of a method of wireless charging has always fascinated consumers, and engineers have already invented ways to do it. However, commercial use of the technology had to be stalled owing to technical difficulties in its applications. But it is to be noted that Duracell has launched its ‘myGrid’ wireless charger for smartphones recently, which is the first revolutionary step in this regard.

A good alternative to wire-dependent charging is the installation of public charging booths, but setting them up still needs work and planning. However, the day when users will no longer have to carry sinuous wires to charge their laptops will eventually dawn and that day will mark a new beginning for wireless communication.
